Since 1998, Janis Reed has been the creative force behind numerous, exclusive home renovation and new construction projects in Rochester, New York. She has an innate talent for identifying her clients’ personal style, and believes that home should be your haven for relaxation and replenishing; where you express yourself through your surroundings, and where you give the best of yourself to family and friends.
Janis is the only area designer who was formerly a visual merchandiser and retailer, both of which are demonstrated in her creative and business management skills. She is involved in every aspect of the design process, from concept to installation to ensure the success of her projects. Her clientele in both residential and commercial design includes entrepreneurs, attorneys, educators, engineers, medical professionals, real estate developers and retired professionals.
Her clients describe her as “solution-driven” – “extremely talented” – “professional” and “a joy to work with.”
Janis’s approach to design fuses traditional forms with current style to create interiors that are classic, with a fresh twist. Her award-winning spaces have been featured in the Rochester Home Builders’ Homearama, the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra’s Symphony Show House, and the Rochester Home & Garden Show. Her design strategies and tips have been featured in a variety of Upstate New York publications, and through her own design and lifestyle blog, design well.
Janis is a professional member of the Interior Design Society. Formerly, she served as the Upstate New York Chapter President and National Marketing & Communications Chair for the Association of Interior Design Professionals (AIDP).
Janis is one of only two interior designers in the Rochester area who were chosen to Design for a Difference, where she executed a redesign of the reception area and faculty lounge for the renowned Hochstein School of Music and Dance in Rochester. Other community projects include spaces for Lifetime Assistance Inc. and The Barbara Wolk Schwartz Women's Community Residence, and the City Sense “Giving Tree Challenge.”
Janis and her husband Doug have three children, Jeffrey, Danny and Mackenzie, and two feline rescues, Chloe and Lexi. Their family homestead is in the lakeside community of Charlotte, New York where they have lived for the past 30 years. When she’s not designing, Janis is a musician and director of the Contemporary Music Ensemble at Holy Cross Church of Rochester.
Janis Reed Interiors serves the Rochester metro area and surrounding townships including Fairport, Pittsford, Mendon, Webster, Victor and Hilton. Out of state projects are welcomed, either on site or via E-design.
