When you situate your new home on a former horse farm, an unobstructed view of the bucolic landscape is essential. My clients’ top priorities were expansive windows and comfortable, open spaces for gathering family and friends. French Country Manor is the third home I was privileged to design for this wonderful couple and they entrusted me to guide the project from blueprints to completion.
Creating a seamless transition from indoors to outdoors was key, so I kept the color palette in muted tones of taupe greys, greens and watery blues. Warmth and balance were achieved with a mix of French elements such as a wrought iron banister, beamed and coffered ceilings, and the patina of rich wood finishes. Furnishings were curated to arrive at the refined, yet comfortable ambience that supports my clients’ lifestyle. The overall aesthetic is sophisticated and luxurious, yet approachable and livable for all the family to enjoy.
French Country Manor embodies the welcoming spirit of my clients and their love for home as a gathering place.
Working with Janis on designing and decorating our new home has been a wonderful experience. We wanted a French Country theme. I love this gracious style, but I didn’t know how to achieve it in a home with lofty ceilings and grand scale. Janis brought a tremendous amount of creativity and suggested ideas for design and colors that we absolutely loved – the beauty of the warm wood finishes, the graceful curves of the furniture, the soft textures of the fabrics, the well-chosen accessories – she knew just how to warm the interior spaces. Everything she chose feels so comfortable and inviting.
